What is The Fellowship?

What is the Fellowship of Comparative Religion? Actually, there are many answers. First of all, the Fellowship is just that--fellowship, a communion among people, among "fellows" (no sexist bias intended) of like mind and heart. This network of friends extends to many states and several countries. Contact is maintained through a newsletter, regular meetings, retreats, classes, and ceremonies.

The "creed" of the Fellowship is simple but profound. We believe that there is one great "Spirit" and that that Spirit manifests itself in many and various ways, in all of creation, and in every religious tradition. Therefore, the Fellowship is a non-sectarian, non-denominational organization devoted to discovering and honoring the sacred aspects of all spiritual paths, ancient and contemporary, Eastern and Western. By study, discussion, and participation in service and ceremony, we seek to eliminate our own prejudice and ignorance about those peoples whose ways are unfamiliar to us. Our hope is to find an underlying commonality among the various religious traditions, a commonality that allows us to celebrate our connection to all people as well as our unity with all life. By honoring the natural world as well as the many primal peoples worldwide, we seek to recreate a more perfect balance within ourselves.

Our regular meetings involve meditation, discussion, and prayer. Glenda Taylor, minister to the Fellowship, does pastoral counseling, conducts weddings, baby naming ceremonies, and various other personal ceremonies for individual Fellowship members, as well as leading various retreats for men, women, and children. She also has a prison ministry and lectures widely by invitation at other organizations.

The Fellowship is open to all people of any race or age or other description. It is not a membership organization. The Fellowship, its activities, and its newsletter are supported by tax deductible donations.
